Pakistan Flag
The All-India Muslim League adopted the Pakistan flag during its Constituent Assembly meeting on August 11, 1947, three days before British India was partitioned. The flag was kept after a constitution was established in 1956, and it is now used as the national flag of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The flag has a green field in the middle with a stylised tilted white crescent moon and five-pointed star, and a vertical white stripe at the hoist end. The green hue of the flag is supposed to be ‘dark green,' with Pakistan green being the official and most consistent portrayal.
The flag is frequently addressed in the national song, it is flown on many key national holidays such as Independence Day, Republic Day, and Defense Day, and it is also hoisted every day when the national anthem is played at government and private buildings, schools, and offices. The hoisting and handling of the flag is governed by strict rules.
The flag-hoisting ritual is a daily occurrence at the Pakistan-India border crossing at Wagah-Attari, and it is witnessed by hundreds of onlookers. Every year on March 23rd and August 14th, the flag is flown at half-mast to commemorate the Lahore Resolution of 1940 and Pakistan's declaration as an independent Islamic republic with a constitution in 1956, respectively.
