Thailand Flag
Thailand's flag has five horizontal stripes of red, white, blue, white, and red, with the middle blue stripe being twice as broad as the other four stripes. King Rama VI issued a royal edict approving the design on September 28, 1917. Since 2016, the day has been observed as a significant national holiday in Thailand, commemorating the flag.
The flag's colors are thought to represent Thailand's unofficial motto: nation-religion-king. The colors red and white signify the land and people, while blue signifies the monarchy. The blue color in particular is significant since it is the fortunate color of King Rama VI, who issued the royal edict authorizing the adoption of this flag. The coincidence of flag colors with those of the United Kingdom, France, Russia, and the United States reflects King Rama VI's anti-Germany position when he declared war on Germany that July.
