Saint Lucia Flag
Saint Lucia's flag is a symbol of the country's identity and history. It has a deep cerulean blue field that represents the Caribbean Sea, with a yellow triangle in front of a black isosceles triangle with a white edge. The yellow triangle depicts the country's sunshine, while the black triangle signifies the island's African roots.
The black triangle's white edges symbolise togetherness and harmony. The flag was officially adopted in 1967, replacing the former British Blue Ensign, which had been defiled with the colony's arms. The flag has been Saint Lucia's national symbol since the country became an affiliated state of the United Kingdom in 1967. Over the years, some specific design elements have been changed, but the basic design has remained unchanged.
