Palestine flag

The Palestinian flag is a tricolor comprised of three horizontal stripes from top to bottom: black, white, and green. A red triangle extending from the hoist is superimposed on the flag. The flag is made up of Pan-Arab colors and is used to signify the Palestinian state and people. The Palestinian Liberation Organization first used it on May 28, 1964. (PLO). Flag Day is observed on September 30th.

The flag is comparable to the Hashemite Kingdom of Hejaz's and Syria's Ba'ath Party's, both of which employ a 2:3 ratio, as well as the Arab Federation of Iraq and Jordan, which has an equilateral triangle at the hoist. It also resembles the Jordanian flag and the flag of Western Sahara, all of which were inspired by the Arab Revolt against Ottoman authority in 1916-1918. The Arab Revolt's banner featured the same design, but the colors were arranged differently.

President Mahmoud Abbas approved the annual lowering of the flag in 2021 to commemorate the Balfour Declaration, which was the first step toward the foundation of Israel on what was then Palestinian territory.
