New Caledonia Flag
New Caledonia, a French overseas territory, currently has two flags. Prior to 2010, the only flag used to represent New Caledonia was the French tricolor, a tricolor with three vertical stripes of blue (hoist side), white, and red, known colloquially as the French Tricolor or simply the Tricolor.
In July 2010, the New Caledonian Congress opted to fly the Kanak flag of the independence movement FLNKS alongside the French Tricolor. This judgment, which is not legally binding, sparked debate. Currently, the majority of New Caledonian communes display both flags, but not all, with the remainder just flying the French Tricolor.
