Micronesia Flag
On November 30, 1978, the Federated States of Micronesia adopted their national flag. The blue field of the flag represents the Pacific Ocean, which surrounds the nation of islands.
The stars on the flag represent the four Federated States of Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, and Yap, and are positioned to resemble the points of a compass; this is also an echo of US heraldic usage. The flag was created to represent the four states' union while also paying honor to the country's position in the Pacific.
