Sint Maarten Flag
The Sint Maarten flag consists of a white triangle with the Sint Maarten coat of arms at the hoist, as well as two horizontal bands of red and blue. The flag was chosen in 1985, soon after the territory received a coat of arms. Since June 13th of that year, it has served as the official flag of Sint Maarten.
It became the sole flag of the constituent country upon the collapse of the Netherlands Antilles on October 10, 2010. The red and blue bars are thought to represent the island's Dutch and French origins. The island territorial authority is represented by the coat of arms, which includes the Papiamento motto “Unity and Justice,” a rising sun, two Sint Maarten parrots, two white Stars, and a yellow Scroll.
