苏丹南部的标志

South Sudan's national flag is made up of a blue triangle on the left side a golden star and three stripes black on the top, red on the middle and green on bottom.

It was enacted in the aftermath of the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 2005, which ended the Second Sudanese Civil War. A version of the flag similar to this one was formerly used as the flag of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement.

The flag was selected prior to the country's official declaration of independence in 2011. The design represents the newly independent nation's promise for a bright future, with the sun representing the country's unity and the Nile and green triangle reflecting the country's natural resources and fertility.
